sleepin italy or velvet holidays
 

Has anyone had experience with sleepinitaly or velvet holiday recently? They are apartment rental companies for Rome etc - I have been to slow travel and am checking on this board for information thanks
I need apratment for three days for about 100 eu a night for 2 in Piazza navona area at end of May

I used sleepinitaly last June. No problems at all with the compnay. They have a bad rep with the management at slowtrav but if you read the consumer reviews at that site, they are mostly positive.

Thank you - do you remember where you stayed? The people who I have communicated with seem very nice but don't want to throw my money out the door and be left with no place to stay. Can you tell me how things worked when you got there - did you pay cash or what and how did they meet you- things like that

The owner has a chair shop a couple of doors down, so we just arranged to meet him at his shop, he took us down to the apt, we paid cash. Sometimes an agency rep meets you instead. Gulia (sp?), the main contact at the company, was always very helpful and responsible.

I worked with sleepinitaly.com for an apartment in Rome last March and had no problems. They were very helpful and we were pleased. I have heard others have some negative experiences, but I've gathered that often it is the apartment owners that have thrown a monkey wrench in plans.

I used sleepinitaly last March, again over Christmas and have booked another for this July. I think pretty much all of their apartments require you to pay cash on arrival. I have had very good experiences with them, great communication and no problems. As mentioned, I think for those who had a problem, it was the apartment owner who caused the problem, not sleepinitaly. I think this is a possibility with any company that deals with privately-owned apartments.
