Sleep in italy.com

I am planning on renting an apartment with 3 other friends through sleep in italy. My question has anyone dealt with them and had a bad experience? The apartments they offer seem really nice just wondering do they produce exactly what they say they will at the end. If anyone can recomend a nice apartment for a week in Florence and a week in Sorrento please do. Please include price as well, we will be traveling in july into august. Hope to hear from you all soon!

Maria, I rented an apartment in Rome through them last Easter. I requested quotes on one place and got offered a different one. The one they offered was fine. The people I dealt with before the trip were very helpful and easy to work with. The apartment owner is most likely who you will meet with when you arrive. Mine was fantastic. I had ATM card problems on arrival and was not able to produce all the cash and he was absolutely fine with it, meeting me later in the week for the balance. He also was helpful in recommending restaurants and things to do while I was in Rome.

I would definitely use sleepinitaly.com on my next trip. Sorry, no specific recommendations for Florence and Sorrento.

I rented an apartment through Sleepinitaly last year and it went smoothly. A poster here did mention a problem they had after I had made my arrangements, and a search may turn up that post. I wondered if I should cancel my reservation based on that poster's experience, but I kept it and all went well.

The agency represents many individual owners, and the experience probably depends more upon the reliability of the individual owner than upon that of the agency.

Most comments seem to be favorable. As with any agency that rents for various individual owners, there is always some chance that you won't be happy with the upkeep or cleanliness of the place. The biggest negative I see is that they have a high frequency or changing your reservation. As a number of their apartments are available from several agencies, I suspect they sometimes "lose" the apartment they've rented to someone when it gets rented by another agency -- perhaps for a higher price. I'm the type that once I have rented a place, I don't like the idea of arriving and being told -- "oh we're substituting another one for you" especially in a different location.
