Sleep at Heathrow

Spending eight hours at Heathrow (it was to have been four but British Airways thought I deserved more), and would like to spend most of it horizontal, preferably in the Land of Nod.

I arrive around 6 am and leave 2 pm, terminal 5.

I'll be tired and cranky, having just spent 20 hours travelling from Australia.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Oh,look! The Land of Nod has taken on a link! Isn't the internet wonderful?

You may have to opt for spending your time in the Aspire Lounge and Spa in Terminal 5 - £34.99 (http://www.heathrow.com/airport-guid...rvices/lounges) or the Plaza Premium Lounge - £40.00 (https://www.heathrow.com/airport-gui...rvices/lounges).

Or shell out for one of the connected Hotels provided they have day rates? That’s what I would do.

Unfortunately the airport lounges have a 3 hr time limit, so not a complete solution. Try this link, which works without the parentheses in Robert2016's post:

Thanks for the responses. It's an international connection, so I was hoping not to have to waste time going through Customs twice. It looks like the only option at terminal 5 is a lounge, no bedrooms or showers.

If you go landside there's the Sofitel:

There is a yotel landside in T-4 where you pay by the hour

There are many hotels near Heathrow on Bath Road that are reached either on the Hoppa Bus or by cab. Premier Inn, Ibis, Radisson, etc. are all less expensive than the Sofitel.

But the Sofitel is a lot more convenient, plus it offers day rooms.

We always stay at the Sofitel at LHR. Book a day room there. Very nice hotel, good food too.

The Notovel is quite good, and it was the first stop on the airport bus system back in 2010.

Looks like I'll be staying "airside" and trying to get comfortable for eight hours in a standard airport seat. Sofitel have very expensive day rooms, but not till 8 am. By the time I get through Customs, and allowing time to return in plenty of time for my next flight, I'd end up paying £135 for no more than a couple of hours' sleep. I'd imagine it would be a similar story with other nearby hotels (but perhaps not quite as expensive). When I booked this trip, I had about a four-hour layover, but BA then changed the time of the ongoing flight from London to Krakow. I'm doing a package tour of Poland and will as a consequence of this flight change arrive in Krakow after the tour has commenced. Leaving Australia a day earlier is not an option as I have booked domestic flights in Australia with another carrier, and accommodation at Sydney airport, all at the lowest rates without the option of changing. BA have been no help. I won't be at all surprised if they change flight times again in the eight months between now and then. I can assure you it's the last time I'll fly with them.

Thanks to all who tried to help. I'll take plenty of sudokus.

You might try the Sofitel when you arrive as they may offer you a better price at the last minute. Maybe or maybe not but worth a try.

+1 for the Yotel in T4. Exactly what you need.

I booked my daughter and her friend into the Yotel at LHR after she booked a connecting flight to FCO 8 hours after arrival. She said it was fine for a shower and short nap. Pay by the hour.

I never had any luck using my Avios points so I used them last time we had a layover at Heathrow at the Sofitel. I also have reservations with them this next June through my BA miles.
We are stuck in NY City on way home from London on American so need to spend the night there becuse they changed flights
