SKYSCANNER & THE FARESTORE
Recently researching tix from JFk to Madrid for October. Skyscanner came up with a $653 per person price (flying on Iberia - 10/9 to 10/26) versus Iberia direct website - Cheap O Air - or others that were in the $800+ range p/p.
Skyscanner claims fare is all inclusive of taxes - fees - etc. When you go to book, they send you to a site called The Farestore.com. My question is does anyone have nay experience with Skyscanner and the Farestore ?? Reliability of booking thru them ?? Savings of $150+ per tix is obviously preferred but do not have any personal experience booking thru these guys. |
Hi nygvic,
Sam from Skyscanner here. To explain how Skyscanner works - we compare flight prices from thousands of airlines and agents, and present these to you the user. As you've mentioned, all prices on Skyscanner include mandatory taxes. Once you've found a flight you want, we direct you straight to the airline or agent's website where you make you booking direct (thereby getting the best price). Skyscanner do not take bookings or get involved in the payment process at all - so you are always booking directly with the provider. All airlines and agents found on Skyscanner are reputable and trustworthy - we have 25 million users per month, and are Europe's leading travel search site. You can see the awards we've won here: http://www.skyscanner.net/news/artic...er-awards.html and our press coverage here: http://www.skyscanner.net/news/artic...-cuttings.html If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask; the best place to do so is our help page: http://www.skyscanner.net/contactus.aspx Hope that helps? I used SkyScanner to book flights from Catania, Sicily to Rome in 2011. After finding the flight I wanted, I clicked purchase (or whatever the button says), and it forwarded me to the airline's site, in that case BluExpress.
We didn't have any problems. |
I've certainly researched fares on Skyscanner many times and had no incident of being forwarded to any site other than the airline's. Never heard of the farestore.

I have looked at Skyscanner, but because of the current lack of multi-city capability, it is not useful for most of my trips. Multi-city option is on top of the requested enhancement. If they can do multi-city fare alert, it would be even better than other sites.
