Please help me with information. Any advice on using Skyscanner? They are cheaper than the travel agent, but I am not sure wether the are good. We are from South Africa and want to go to Dublin in June/July 2014.

Why do you have to pay for ticket searching? You could do it yourself or use a site like Kayak.

Skyscanner is a totally legitimate search engine for airfares (like kayak).

You won't book with skyscanner but will be directed to the appropriate airline.

Thank you! I travel a lot and do all my planning and bookings via internet, but have never tried to book a flight. Too much money involved if something goes wrong. We want to book our flights to Dublin for June/July 2014 for 3 weeks, but the diffirence in price is about R1500 per person between the Travel agent and using most search enjins. I thing the agent add another R500 which makes it R2000 per person. I appreciate your input.

Skyscanner is a free site? The wording of the original post made it sound as though Skyscanner charged for searching and booking.

I suspect the OP meant the flights she found on it were cheaper than the travel agent found. Or maybe just because Skyscanner sends you to the airline's website to book and thus there is no fee, whereas a travel agent will charge something to book you.

I found the best price with Travelstart. Any advice?

Once again you're saying that Skyscanner (the subject of this tread) is a paid site. If Skyscanner is cheaper than a travel agent then there must be a price associated with the service otherwise you would have said that it's free.

Skyscanner is a free search engine. It´s useful as it finds also budget airlines (ryanair) that most search engines skip.

I have used Travelstart before and received e-tickets promtly. There was a small charge for credit card payment (5-10 euros?) that was added to the final amount.

I always use Skyscanner to find budget airline flights within Europe. It is like Kayak, FREE, but offers those European budget flights too.

Thank you, I will use them. Scyscanner is a free sight, I know that. The flights I found on Skyscanner are cheaper than the flights of the Travel agent.

I never use a yravel agent as it's so easy to book online.

I have used them for years. Never use anything else.

They cannot be compared with a travel agent, they are simply a VERY easy to use search engine which almost always returns the best routes and prices. Always cheaper than Kayak or Expedia for UK originating travel. No idea the effect if you are US based.

A 5 year old could use the site, it is far easier than using most airline sites. You are simply directed to the agent / airlines site when you decide on a route and I imagine a cookie is attached so that Skyscanners get a kick back when you book. No idea that this is true, only know that the engine has saved me days and days of search time and a great deal of money.
