Skiing Tirol: St. Anton or St. Johann ???

Hello all!

Which resort area would you suggest for a small group of 21 year old singles?

They want to ski the Austrian Alps and have fun apres ski night-life. Looking for good deals on lodging and rentals, too. They have it narrowed down to St. Anton or St. Johann, but would be open to other suggestions, as well.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

We are partial to the Sankt Anton/Ischgl/Lech area for skiing, but we are not really young adults so I cannot comment about the night life. The village is quite small though.

St Anton probably has more of the apres-ski/nightlife you're looking for, and the slopes are great for off-piste experienced skiers as well as less-experienced skiers.

St Johann is only 10kms away from the town of Kitzbühel which has excellent sking and nightlife as well, plus is smack in the middle of the Tirol region so you have a lot more options for snow-seeking. There are quite a few bars (with music/bands) in St Johann, and if your group are not super-experienced skiers then the slopes at St Johann will suit them well. St Johann is a little more family-oriented than St Anton, and the scenery a little more spectacular(IMO) than St Anton, however St Anton has more action so if that's what you're looking for then go with St Anton.

St. Anton is one of the top resorts in the Alps, fits the criteria of excellent skiing and apres-ski, but you'll hardly find a good deal on lodging and rentals - it's expensive.

It makes a difference when exactly you plan to go. St. Johann is at much lower altitude, although it got a lot of snow this season the snow quality will be far better in St. Anton in March e.g.
