Skiing in Italy

My husband and I are planning a ski trip to NE Italy for the last week in March/first week of April. Any ideas on which areas have the best Spring skiing?

Connie, my only experience was skiing in the Cortina area 3rd week in March a few years ago. Luckily for us, they had a big storm right before we arrived. Conditions were true spring conditions - great snow at the highest elevations, slush at the lowest. Even some mud at the very bottom. No snow in the town of Cortina. We had a great time & loved the variety and endless lift system. We especially enjoyed skiiing the Sella Ronda route - the screnery was awesome, but it was everywhere! I really don 't know if the conditions were typical for that time. There were NO crowds. Peak season was over.

Dayle<BR>I am planning a ski trip to Cortina the 3rd week of March. Where did you stay? Any recommendations for restaurants also, or did you do the European plan? And I gather conditions are uncertain at that time or year? Thanks

Barbara, we went with a huge western US ski club event --500 people! We stayed at the Grand Hotel Savoia, a 4 star. It was excellent and very traditionally European. Breakfasts & dinners were included and were wonderful. By the second night our server knew that the 10 at our table only wanted gelato for desert and nothing else! He made sure we got it every night....
