Ski Mt Etna

I'm on my way to Sicily in a few weeks, and I'm curious if anyone knows anything about skiing Mt. Etna in the spring? Also, is there anywhere I can rent ski equipment?
I realize there's an eruption right now, but I suspect that to end today/soon. Do they re-open the mountain fairly quickly or would it remain closed for weeks for safety?

The normal season is through March. considering that the 2001 eruptions damaged lifts and ski huts, I'd be very surprise if you'll be doing any skiing.

thanks for the info. I was curious if anyone hiked and skied the mountain, similar to Mt. Washington in New Hampshire, or Loveland Pass in Colorado?

why wouls you expect the eruptions to end today or even soon? I hear that it's the most active volcano in the world right now. I believe it's been constantly erupting for quite some time.
