Skellig Michael (Ireland) - Boat Trips Possible in March?
I've been trying to get in contact with boat companies to take a trip to Skellig Michael in early March 2016, but my online research tells me that the "season" doesn't start until April.
Most info and websites seem pretty outdated. I would think Skellig Michael's popularity would explode with its starring role in the new "Star Wars" movie, and perhaps the season is different this year?
So, my question: do ANY boat companies/private captains take folks out in March? (even if they haven't done it in the past, but will now?)
Help much appreciated for two young honeymooners who can't wait to explore beautiful Ireland in just a few weeks!

I've spent time at a friend's home on Valentia Island and the boats leave from across the bridge in Portmagee. "Weather permitting" is the key. If you haven't seen the webpage for Portmagee tourist information, have a look at boat operators here:

Thanks for the link, but I did try to email a whole bunch of boat operators. I only received replies from 2 of them, who said they weren't running tours until April.
I'm wondering if anyone might have some "insider" insight.

Yes. I do wish I'd heard more information from them.
I wonder if it's a case of "get a better answer if you show up and ask in person?" (Obviously difficult to do when you live halfway across the world!)
Has anyone seen any boats going out in March, by chance?

Be aware that March is generally not good sailing weather much less tourist season. As MmdPerdu stated, the best information will be from the websites. I doubt very much if anyone is sailing across to Sklellig Michael in March.

You can get a boat out round the islands any time anyone will take you. BUT you can ONLY land on the island when it is "open" with guides and OPW personnel on site as it were.
The site is "open" from
14th of MAY to the 2nd OCTOBER 2016
There is no extension to this period (either end)
