SIXT / Irish Car Rentals ,Ireland
Have received the best rates from Sixt for 1 week in August. Has anyone used them before and have any comments. I have checked all the different companies and their rate is the cheapest all inclusive. Avis is 200$ more for same category car. I have done a seach in the archives but do not come across any comments on Sixt/Irish Car Rentals.

DOCK, I used Sixt in Germany -- got a direct link to them from Lufthansa. Had no problems at all and thought I got a great rate. They're a reputable company.
Have you tried Autoeurope.com? I've found their rates to be excellent both in Ireland and Italy. ((b)) |
I've used Sixt once and never again. It was Spain, and it was summer, but there was no excuse for giving me a car that had cigarette butts all over the floor, dirt on the seats, was dirty and unwashed outside, and had a jerky clutch. Maybe that was an isolated instance, but I don't care to take the risk again.

Budman, I tried Autoeurope per you advice in a previous post but their rate for a mid size, manual, inclusive , is 681Cdn. while Sixt for exact car is 463Cdn. A substantial difference in price. The only other company with same price is with Goireland.com.Budget is close second with theirs.

DOCK, I would then stick with Sixt. I would expect that Wayne's experience was the exception rather than the rule. I wouldn't expect that in Ireland. I would never accept a filthy car, but that VW but I rented in Cozumel left a lot to be desired. ((a)) ((b))

DOCK, My friend and I used Sixt in Geneva. In fact she used them all the time, never had any problems, always had the best rate and even were able to accomidate us when unexpectely we had 6 people instead of 4.

We've used Sixt at least 3 times -- once in Germany, twice in the UK (picking up in Manchester & Southampton). Never had a problem with them. They are a major German-headquartered car rental company, comparable to Hertz or Avis.
