SIXT Auto Yes or No?

Anybody familiar with SIXT Auto? Looking at Travelocity.com they seem to be the cheapest for car rentals. Please advise.

Don't worry, they are in the same class as Hertz, Avis, Budget, National, though relatively newer I think. They seem to have struck some significant associations with major players in the travel business, which vouches for their reliability. I've never used them, but I wouldn't hesitate at all to do so.

hey, we used sixt on a recent visit to switzerland. we got a very good deal on a merc c class estate or saloon, same price for both, but we chose the estate. the people were very nice when i called up and i could even earn qualiflyer miles. i called several times to confirm etc before our trip, last time on the night before. our flight was delayed by 1 hour and when we eventually found the sixt office at zurich, ourcar wasn't there ready - i was told that it would be - they said it would be 30 mins. the people weren't too nice or helpful, but did offer us big discount on merc c class saloon (didn't matter to us) or a minivan. from then on everything was great again. just the nasty (that may be a bit too harsh) people to contend with at zurich. i think its german company specialising in upscale autos. ok??

Sixt is fine - we actually think they are somehow related to Budget as their logo colors and style are identical - and there doesn't seem to be Budget here in Germany. Prices are great, and they've almost never had the car style we reserved, so we've gotten a free upgrade instead.

Sixt is a Germany-based company in the same class as Hertz, Avis and other "majors." It does own Budget and does not operate under the name Sixt in the US (so far as I know). This past summer we rented a Mercedes from Sixt in the UK -- picking up and returning to the airport at Manchester. All went well and the price was very good. Their toll-free number from the US is 1-888-748-8227. This number rings into a rental center in Ireland -- so be aware of the time differences. I have found the rental staff to be somewhat difficult to work with -- in that they do not know the product well and seem to have some difficulty understanding the computer screens they are using. However, I have recently made arrangements through Sixt to rent a 4-wheel drive vehicle that I can take into Italy -- picking it up and returing it at the Munich airport -- but it took several separate calls to the 888 number before I connected with someone who was able to handle my request. Problems with making the reservation aside, the company is quite respectable, my experience with them is good, and there were no "unexpected" charges associated with my rental in Manchester.
