Six days in Portugal without Lisbon and Porto
If you only had six days to be in Portugal in May and were traveling with a spouse who refuses to do cities and just wants to drive, see gorgeous scenery, historical sites and eat good food., castles etc. where would you go. Landing in Lisbon and after 6 nights heading to Spain by car.

Between Lisbon and Porto there are many places to visit, such as Obidos, Alcobaça, Tomar, and seaside towns:

As an alternative to the towns between Lisbon and Porto, you could devote your time to the Alentejo province which lies between Lisbon and Spain. Since Spain surrounds Portugal, it is difficult to figure out six days in Portugal on your way to Spain without knowing your Spanish destination. https://flic.kr/p/2gqDh5L Or if going north to Santiago: https://flic.kr/p/7MXmvd |
Thanks you, We are not limited to places between Lisbopn and Porto, he just wants to avoid those two cities, We can go anywhere. We then have 3 nights to Cross Spain lol avoiding Madrid and other major cities and then on to southern France and on to Nice to visit friends total of about 16 nights.. So any suggestion in Spain and France are also welcome. Im hoping 2-4 hours of driving and then a few hours of sightseeing in Spain and France with 4 restful days near Nice.

Bragança looks like a logical cross-over point to Spain.

Michael your pictures are fantastic and Braganca looks like exactly the kind of place we are looking for.
I was thinking we land in Lisbon and would drive to Cascais spend a few hours and perhaps stay in Sintra for one or even 2 nights. Then figure out and itinerary to visit Tomar and Obidos and then there are just so many choices I'm at a loss. |
