SITA Schedule Siena

I am having trouble locating a website to obtain the SITA schedule Siena/Florence. Would appreciate any tips. Most of the details for my trip in May to Cinque Terre, Lucca, Siena, Venice have been arranged, but this one eludes me! Thanks to all the Italy experts for the great information posted on this site. It is invaluable to the independent traveller.

Buses run hourly or more frequently. You can look them up in
www.trainspa.it

TRA-IN is the bus company for the Province of Siena, which runs the buses in cooperation with SITA.

There are nonstop express buses, which take 75 minutes, and local buses, which can take up to 2 hours.

Owing to the frequency of service, you don't really need a schedule (except on Sundays, when service is much reduced).

I found this site to be very helpful. http://www.turismoverde.com/italia/trasport/treni.htm

Hi Suz,

Here is the SITA page for Florence/Siena

Click on the "350" line

Please note that the SITA bus station is close to the train station, but not around the sides (as are the local bus areas). The address is: Viale dei Cadorna 105 - Tel. 055 47821

Thanks for the web addresses. Ira, my Italian is nearly non-existent, but it looks like the schedule legend uses a small cross to indicate "only on Sunday or holiday" times. Since I plan to use the SITA line on Sunday, the first departure time from Siena to Florence appears to be 9:40, then 10:40 and 13:40. Si? I'll check out turismoverde to see if that site clarifies. You guys are great!

Hi Travel_Fan,

Are you sure of that address? It is up by the Fortezza.

We took the SITA bus from the station at Via Santa Caterina dei Siena, across the street from the FSMN station.

Hi Suz,

If you increase the magnification you will see thatwhat looks like an X is a pick and shovel. These are the Mon-Sat buses.

The "festivi" schedule looks like a churche with a cross on top (almost a T).

These buses run on the :10, not the :40.

Ira,

You are right. I just pulled out a map of Florence, and it looks as if the bus station is on Via della Scala. So, the phone number is most probably wrong, too.

It seems that the express bus makes two stops in Siena - Piazza Camollia and Via Tozzi.

Which one should we take?

Thanks.

Bob.

Hi Bob,

Via tozzi at Piazza Gramsci.

OK, just a little more help with the schedules. Tursomoverde says Siena to Firenze on Festivi(is this also Sunday?): four departures only, first at 08:10, next at 14:10. SITA on line appears to show 10:10 for Sunday also. Planning to take the 10:10, but don't want to be stranded until 14:10 if I'm reading the schedules for Sunday incorrectly.Sorry to be so dense.

Hi Suzshe,

There is a 9:10 am bus to Siena on Sunday. We took it on Sunday March 28th. It's A Rapida so you'll get there in about 1 and 1/4 hours. Enjoy!
