Siracusa: Pensione Grand Bretagna
I may have an extra night in Sicily and may try to squeeze in a night or two in Siracusa. GAC in a previous post recommended this hotel, and I can't find any contact info on it. Does anyone have the address/phone number/e-mail? How much does it average per double room?

I stayed at Hotel Gran Bretagna back in Feb 1999. From the business card I saved (warning - this might be outdated):
Va Savoja 21
Tel 0931/68.765
Fax 0931/462169
96100 Siracusa
Email [email protected]
I enjoyed the room and my stay there, it was well located, just inside the old part of Siracusa, Ortigia. At the time (off season, 4 years ago, pre-Euro) I paid 63.000 lira per night for a single.

Sorry that should be VIA Savoja. Typo, but everything else is how it's printed on the card from 1999...
Hey, for the heck of it, I just did an internet search, and lo and behold...

I tried a google search too, but i typed in "Pensione Bretagna" and came up with nothing. Thanks Nutella! What do you think about the idea of staying a little outside Siracusa? Would I miss any "magic" by not being in the middle of it all?

The Hotel Gran Bretagna has its own web site. You should also consider the Hotel Gutkowski, also on Ortygia Island and right on the seaside promenade (Ionian Sea side), which might be even better than the Bretagna. Gutkowski has a few rooms facing the sea which are quite lovely. They also have their own website.
