SIM cardsto stay in touch

we are travelling Denmark, France, Spain in Oct 2012 and looking to have at least two of three phones on 'local' provider. Anyone had a useful experience they can share. We have iPhone 3, iPhone 4s and LG P990 Android? Have found the 'lefrenchmobile' site which looks promising. Is their much free WiFi around Paris and Barcelona? Any Intel on this great

fully recieved.

Are the iPhones unlocked? If not, then you're out of luck.

If they are, then you shouldn't have any problem buying a sim card from any of the major players, Vodafone (in all three destinations), Orange (France) and MoviStar or Vodafone in Spain.

The only free WiFi you'll encounter, which you'll be able to use, will be limited to your hotel, Starbucks and possibly your airport.

We use AT&T's roaming data service, which is worth the price when you have to be in contact by email, but the calling costs are on the high side.

You'll find a LOT of wifi. In Paris, for example, the city provides it free in parks and near city buildings like the various mairies, libraries etc. MacDonalds has it and so do many cafes.

Lebara.fr has low rates. In the EU roaming charges are capped at
just over 40 euro cents a minute if you use a French SIM in Spain for example. Cheaper than AT&T's roaming rates I would bet! LOL

The other day someone sent me a link to this eBay auction for a French Orange SIM... you could get it activated before you even leave it appears:

The seller will apparently cut a SIM down to micro size for the 4S if requested. One assumes you know about unlocking iPhones ... if needed you have lots of time to get it done. Where I live it's 25 bucks to unlock a 3 or 3GS and 50 to unlock a 4S.

Have a great trip!

Too many sim cards on eBay are used cards and can be a problem. It's always best to purchase a new one.

Free WiFi in Paris: http://www.davidlebovitz.com/2010/08...-free-wifi-in/

That may be true but in this case the seller has a lot of feedback... and all positive. Usually a good clue the deal
will be legit.
