Sim Card Question

Ok I have a cingular Motorola v400g phone and I just asked C to unlock my phone. I then went to the united mobile webite, but I'm little confused about what I get with $49 sim card. It says:

United Mobile SIM card (incl. USD 20,00 initial call value, VAT)

Now is that $20 or 20 mins? Please help me cause I'm confused if I need to buy extra time or not.

Also does a new phone number come with the card or do I just use my old number?

Also which one is better Mobile World available at Carphone Warehouse or United Mobile? I'm going to London for about 6 days I only plan on using it to check in with my mom each day.

It means you have US$20 of value, and that they take a $29 charge for providing a card to you in the US. Wait till you get to the UK to buy and save yourself $29.

You'll get a UK number when you use the new SIM. Phone number goes with the SIM, not the phone itself.

rkkwan,

Ok where would I buy one in the Uk? Also which one do you think is better between the 2 sim card as far a value.

Just bought a nokia phone from Carphone Warehouse. It cost £29.99 which was a compulsory £10 talk credit. What I didnt realise was that it had on a £5 credit as well so the actual phone - unblocked for any network - cost £15.
I think thats a good deal!

I don't know all the options for UK, but T-Mobile UK only charges 0.5GBP to get a prepaid SIM (they call it PAYG - Pay As You Go). Just add whatever amount of money you want to put on.
