Silk Sarves In Venice

I was in Venice awhile ago and bought a beautiful silk scarf that I have subsequently lost. I would like to replace it, but cannot remember the name of the shop. In the Fodor's guide it says Barbieri,in the Castello district, is famous for scarves and shawls 1945 but gives no further info. I have looked for this shop on-line or any others in Venice and can find no information. If you know the names(s)of any places in Venice I can begin to research to purchase a new scraf please send it along.
The shop I bought the original scraf in had beautiful heavy silks of all kinds-by the yard or fashioned as scarves and shawls with exquisite cabinetry used to display them--that is all I remember.

Here's a link to a personal shopper in Venice who might know the name and also might be able to get what you want if they don't have a website.

This is the information about Barbieri in the Italian White Pages.

Barbieri - Arabesque
Foulards - Scialli - Cravatte
3403, Castello
Ponte dei Greci
Tel. & Fax: 041 522 8177

"Foulards" and "Cravatte" (ties) are for men; "Scialli" (scarves, shawls) for women.

Valli
783, San Marco
Tel. & Fax: 041 522 5718

sells high-fashion silks; it does not say that it also makes them up into scarves.

This was on the Web in an article about the Bauer's Il Palazzo:

FABRICA MARIO BEVILACQUA makes fabrics used for home furnishings as well as for fashions by companies like Dolce & Gabbana. Or sew your own. According to Bevilacqua, the queen of Sweden had a gown made up out of its gold-and-silver brocade. At 2520 Santa Maria del Giglio; 39-041-241-0662.

VENETIA STUDIUM makes the original Fortuny lamps, exotic silk lanterns that instantly conjure up Venice. There are also purses, pillows, even dresses made of damask and velvet and pleated silk in the Fortuny style. Pleated-silk scarves, hundreds of them, are stacked on the shelves by color, from vanilla and cream, palest pink and sapphire, to gunmetal and glistening, glamorous black. At 2403-2404 Calle Largo XXII Marzo; 39-041-522-9281.

Except for Barbieri in Castello, all the other shops are in San Marco. Do you remember which sestiere the shop was in?

Dear LizzieB,

I think it may be Venetia Studium:

Venetia Studium
S.Marco 2425
30124 Venezia
tel. 0039 041 5236953
fax 0039 041 5227353
[email protected]

I was in Venice last month and bought two beautiful silk scarves there. The store is filled scarves and shawls made with every color and texture in silk and damask fabric, displayed in such a lovely manner that you couldn't resist. It is located in the shops along the walk between the Piazza San Marco and the Accademia Bridge.

Hope this helps. SusanEva
