2 weeks in Spain

My husband and I are planning a trip to Spain with our son who will be 10 months old at the time for 15 or 16 days, including flights there and back home. We are hoping to go the end of this October - beginning of November because that is when our work schedule will allow us to be off. We realize the weather might not be perfect, but are hoping to get in some warmer temperatures and maybe even some beach time! We have considered spending some time in the Canary Islands. Unfortunately we don't speak fluent Spanish and are looking for tips on where to stay, routes to take, cities to stop in. We only want to do a max of 3 locations - we don't want to waste too much time and energy traveling between destinations, especially for the sake of our son! We are thinking of flying into Madrid (cheapest...) but could do Barcelona, or open to other suggestions. Would love to see Barcelona and possibly either Costa Brava and/or Canary Islands. We don't have our hearts set on France or Portugal, but would be open to either as one of the stops if we get some great recommendations! Please help!

If you want warm weather and even beach time, I wouldn't go to Barcelona. Fly into Madrid, have a look around for a few days, and then fly out to the Canaries.

Good idea from Bedar. You could also take the high speed AVE train to Málaga city by the Med in 2h 30 mins. We had the beach vacation of our lives down here three weeks in November in 2002. Could of course not guarantee that you will be as Lucky as us back then with the weather, but statistics for late October and early November in Málaga says 70-78F, average six hours sun pr. day and rainfall one in five days: http://www.wetteronline.de/reiseplaner/malaga

Sea temperatures will be around 66-68F. http://www.seatemperature.org/europe...ga-october.htm

Málaga city beaches: http://www.spain-holiday.com/Malaga-...ty-beach-guide

Málaga is now on New York Times "Places to go" list for 2016. Barcelona and San Sebastián are the two other Spanish cities on the list. "Beauty, but now a cultural capital, too": http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2...isit.html?_r=0

If you want beach, all the Mediterranean coast is full of it. I would go to Barcelona and spent some days in the beach close to the city (costa brava or costa daurada, because barcelona's beach is horrible). The Canary Islands are ok, but would'nt be my first option. Madrid, Pais Vasco or Sevilla would be in my opinion a better option

not only will the weather be bad for the beach you will find that the daylight hours are shorter too.
Weather is never going to be guaranteed and weather history websites cannot see into the future. From personal experiences of 5 websites and several TV stations sometimes none are saying the same thing for that day's forecast!
Just go with the flow, If you get few days of good sun it will be an advantage.
Public holidays in Spain for 12th October and 1 November. Take those days into consideration when planning your vacation.
