Sifnos, Greece
 

Does anyone have suggestions for accomodations on Sifnos? We are trying to decide whether to stay in Apollonia or Platys Gialos. Any other comments on Sifnos would be of interest.

There aren't many "high end" accomodations in Sifnos. A good bet is Hotel Sifnos in Apollonia, about $60 a night.

I'm going to Crete in October. Any suggestions where I should go for an active vacation? Do you know of any bed and breakfasts?

In Sifnos we stayed in Margarita apartments on a hill above Faros. We had some view of the water. The apartments were clean and comfortable. The woman who cleaned the rooms did not speak much English, but many people do speak English in Sifnos and elsewhere in Greece. We had a car and enjoyed exploring the island by car and by foot for 5 days with our family.

Apollonia is lovely. If you don't mind being inland, this is a nice whitewashed Greek town.
