What would be the best way from Sienna to San Gimignano?

Car - so you can get there early and avoid all the day-trippers arriving by bus.

Visit Volterra also.

Only 1 "n" in Siena.

I forgot to say by public transportation. It will be the end of October.

Bus. The ticket office is in an underpass under Piazza Gramsci. I cannot remember the exact cost, but it may have been around €12 return.

From Piazza Gramsci (near the football Stadium). Some buses go direct, some change at Poggibonsi. For some reason, when I was last there, nearly all the buses back to Siena involved a change.

Do not be put off by the word "Train" next to the timetables - the bus company is TRA-IN.
