Sienna on a Sunday
 

Someone mentioned that Sienna was "dead' on Sunday. No shopes open etc and suggested going to Pienza. Does anyone else share this opinion or have another idea of what to do ?

When I was there in March, the majority of the shops in the central area were open. There were exceptions - the mobile phone shops, and hardware stores were closed, but the clothing and leather goods places remained open, as did the obvious "tourist" shops selling wine, salami's etc.

And a general question - not intended as a Critisism - Why do so many posters spell Siena with 2 "n"s - Id there something in the US called Sienna ?

When I was there 2 years back on a Sunday, quite a few things seemed to be open, especially tourist shops, as already mentioned. The town seemed pretty lively for a Sunday, I thought.

willit: I think Sienna is also a girl's name in English? And the color burnt sienna might be spelled with 2 ns, I'm not sure.

Yed, there id domething in the UD called "sienna". It is a color.

In my experience, Mondays are usually much worse [better?] than Sundays for things being shut.
