Siena to Ancona
 

Looking for 1-2 towns to visit/eat at during a July one day drive from Siena to Ancona. We are leaving on a 10PM ferry from Ancona to Croatia. We have been to Perugia and Assisi so we are looking for other options. We are a family of 3 adults and 2 boys ages 7 and 11. Any recommendations?

You might consider Castiglione del Lago on Lago Trasimeno, Gubbio if it's not too far out of your way and eveybody is not sick of steep hilltowns, or you might go for Jesi for its wonderful military fortifications.

Urbino- great old town but not exactly sure if it is on a main route - if so it's a really neat old town and small enough for a few hours there

Also, caves can be cool in summer
