Siena on a Sunday

Right now our plans have us spending our day in Siena on a Sunday. Is this going to be a problem for shops or other points of interest being open? Anyone else been there on a Sunday?

everything was closed when I was there, but it was the day after the palio and I think most people were hung over

We were there on a Sunday in May 2001 and there was some kind of community bicycle day celebrating no cars in the center city or something like that. It was really cool, whole families riding together, little kids in clubs, etc. There was also a flea market behind the city hall. Most of the shops were closed, but there was so much else going on we certainly had a great time. (All the restaurants were open and many people seemed to head to the Palio plaza after church with the family.

You can check in the inf. if there is any act organized by a Contrada that accepts outsiders. Sometimes there are huge lunches that you can attend if you are lucky you shall never forget it.
