Am interested in the "Tours Around Tuscany" for a trip in May. Can anyone give me an idea of prices?
Thanks!

Strange that nobody yet has mentioned the Pensione Palazzo Ravizza, by far the best, friendliest, best located, most caracteristic hotel in Siena. For less than 100 $ Sharon you can the Locanda Garibaldi in Via Duprè jusy off the main street

Dario, thanks for the info re Pensione Palazzo Ravissa. Do you know how much it would cost per night w/o meals? Also, you mentioned Locanda Garibaldi in Via Duprè for under $100 - can you describe that hotel.
Thanks so much!

I have stayed at the Santa Caterina during my past 2 visits ti Sienna, and enjoyed it both times. The walk to the City Centre is not bad at all. If you decide to drive while staying there, make sure that you tell them when you make a reservation, so they can reserve a spot for you. Parking outside of the hotel can be tricky.

For Colleen: If you are interested in Tours Around Tuscany, there is a thread about it. Type "tours around tuscany" in the subject box and several posts will come up. They also have a website, which as I remember is "toursaroundtuscany.com (or .it). I think you request might get lost on the Siena hotels thread.

Mary Kay

Buongiorno Siena Experts!
Need your advice, please.
We are thinking of visiting Siena from Rome.We were going to take the train.
Any ideas the best way to get into Siena? Been to Florence a lot so thought we would concentrate on Siena, but maybe hire a taxi for a day to take
us to or from Florence. Will not rent a car as my theory is do not trive where
wyou don't speak the lingo. I've seen and heard of big problems folks have in Italy when there is an accident or are pulled over and don't speak Italian. Find it much cheaper to do it that way as we set a price from the start and it is real easy.So we probably will take a train from Rome to Florence and then somehow get to Siena. The train connections direct into Siena from wherever seem confusing. Huh? What? Help

For Deloris: We took trains from Venice to Florence and to Siena, then ro Rome in Oct. 2001. Looking over my itinerary, I see we took an 11:15 am train from Florence to Siena, and it arrived at 1:03pm.. Perhaps an updated schedule can be seen at www.trenitalia.com. Lots of people before have recommended taking the bus from Florence to Siena since it is actually a little quicker and much more scenic a drive.

You can also see train schedules at the www.raileurope. com site. It mught be easier to read since it is in English. Have an enjoyable trip to Italy! You wil love Siena, especially.

Mary Kay

The train station is Siena is a bit aways from the city center so you will need a taxie to get to the Campo area. I always stay at a hotel outside the walls as I get a car, but there are many good hotels inside the wall so you can walk easily around the city. Take the bus to Florence, it leaves on more often. about every hour and is quicker plus you do not have to take a taxie back to the train station. A taxie to Florence would be costly.
