Siena Accommodations
 

Siena has proved the most difficult place to located good accommodations (under 150E). The most frequently mentioned places, Hotel Duomo, Antica Torre, Chiusarelli and Santa Caterina get some good reviews but also also several iffy ones. Palazzo Ravinna is slightly above my limit. Is that about it or are there any good alternatives?

If you'll have a car I highly recommend Frances Lodge. It's in Siena but not in the city center. It has a bus into the center with free parking nearby and is extremely accessible to the roads leading out into Tuscany. Their website is FrancesLodge.it.

You might consider the Alma Domus, run by the sisters, a quiet, clean, convenient, and economical lodging. Via Camporegio 37. Tel. 0577 44177.

check out www.tuscany.net and look NEAR siena if you will have a car. I like South of Siena personally. Vineyards, hills, great little towns....

There have been many positive comments about Hotel Piccolo Oliveta in Siena. That is where my husband and I will be staying for 98 euros a night. Pretty decent rate.

They are just outside the walls, so they appear to be well located for those with or without a car.

As far as the other hotels you listed, yes, they did get some good reviews, but I also found some bad reviews, unlike Hotel Piccolo Oliveta. (I looked here and at TripAdvisor.com for reviews.)

I agree--Hotel Piccolo Oliveto. It is 50 meters from Santa Caterina and a :15 walk into the Campo. And, good parking if you have a car.

I'll cast a third vote for Hotel Piccolo Oliveto. We stayed there in September and loved it. Antonio, Fabio and Alexandria were great hosts and organized a winery tour and wine tasting for us that was one of highlights of our trip. Enjoy!
