Siena
We only have 1 day/night to give to Siena....staying 2 nights in Florence....should we extend our stay in Florence and just do aa day trip or should we go to Siena....and if Siena is the answer...any suggestions to stay???
|
Karen,

Perhaps you should put all of your requests into a single message rather than posting them one at a time.

I've never been to Siena. I loved Florence. We stayed in a mediocre hotel outside of Florence.

I would base my stay in Florence and split the day between Siena and San Gimignano , Both are small (Walled) towns very doable in one day
|
Karen.

San Gemignano is really small, Siena, not so small. It depends whether you have been to Florence before or not. If you didn't, spend more time in Florence, and make a day trip. Otherwise, Siena worths a night stay, and a little more time.

Surlok

I appreciate the advice. I'm bringing this back to the top. I'm sure someone has advice as to stay in Florence and daytrip in Siena....or stay 1 night in Siena??
|
Are you saying you'd stay two nights in Florence, then one in Siena? That would be fine, and better than just a daytrip to Siena. We only did a daytrip and wish we'd had more time in Siena. But if it's only two nights for Florence, and if you haven't been there before, I'd suggest leaving Siena for another trip.

Yes, we have an extra night. Sounds like you advise stay in Siena on the 3rd night! Thanks........K

Try to stay in Sienna overnight. After the tour busses leave the town regains it's ancient mood.

Garden Hotel was quite pleasant (3*) Nice town to walk. Sometimes in trying to see everything you see nothing but train stations and autopistas.
