Side trips from Toulon and Monte Carlo

Our ship docks in Toulon for a full day as well as Monte Carlo. We wish to rent a car in Toulon and explore interesting places in the area. How far up into Provence would be safe to visit and be able to make it back to the ship by the evening? Other than Eze, what is noteworthy and reachable from Monte Carlo WITHOUT a car. Any suggestions for companies who have drivers who would take us from the ship to Eze,and the return trip?

From Monte Carlo I recommend you visit Cap Ferat, the Musee Ephrussi, Villa Kerylos and have lunch in St-Jean, all walkable from one to the other. Easy to reaxh by bus.
Or beautiful Nice. Walk the Promenade, Old Town, Musee Chagall, Cours Salyea.
We sent two weeks in Nice and never got to Eze as we were discouraged by others in Nice due it being over touristed.
In Monaco, go up to Royal Palace and Cathedral where Princess Grace and Prince Rainier tombs are located.

I'd say Nice is obviously worth visiting from Monte Carlo, it's just a short train ride.

There is a bus (no. 81) that goes from Nice to Eze, stops in Monaco, I believe.

Other than Nice, you can easily go to Menton by train from there, also.

Avoid Toulon anyway. Nothing really there - old garrison city. There are 2 nice villages on hills facing each other close by. Or go to cassis or Bandil and visit the calanques.
Very close you have Hyeres and the presqu'ile d'Hyeres.
Michelin green guide will be your friend.
