side trips from seville
going to barcelona (staying at hotel gaudi) then flying to seville.(hotel cervantes) is it possible to rent a car and take side trips to cordoba, granada, and jerez (using seville as a base.) any other "must see"places that are possible from seville?

Granada is kind of a schlep from Seville. Cordoba is close. Would highly recommend Granada, but would stay over night. We opted to stay in Seville without a car (not like Madrid, but still a little intimidating to drive in and out) and then pick up the car on our way out of town. Then drove to Granada (two nights), Ronda (one night) and dropped the car at the airport in Seville.

Have fun

Any other side trips from Seville? Would anyone stay outside of Seville and take a bus or train in for day trips?

me again. sorry Carole, guess no one is interested in Spain these days. Regarding staying outside of Seville, don't do it. It was our favorite city the entire trip and we wished we spent more time there. Riverfront restaurants/bars, great Paella, dinner and drinks at the Alfonso XIII (beautiful courtyard) and just wandering the Jewish quarter and the palaces, etc. The Alhambra was a "don't miss", but Seville was our favorite city (didn't make it to Barcelona, but have heard equally great things about it).

How long would you suggest is enough of a stay in Seville? Would you do day trips from there to Cordoba, Jerez etc. or leave Seville and stop at them on the way to Malaga?

hi Carole
I have not been to Spain yet (planning a trip in october) yet what i have learnt from this site is that Carmona is alsoa possible day tripfrom Sevilla, I think it is
35-45 minutes away.
I think 3 or 4 nights in Seville is enough (can adjust depending on what time you arrive/leave on first/last day). FYI - we like to linger rather than try and see a bunch of different towns (just so you can guage via your travel preferences).

Personally, I would do the day trips after leaving Seville. A car would be a hassle getting in and out of Seville.
