Side trip to Pisa?

What is the best way to get to the Field of Miracles in Pisa from Florence? It sounds like the train station in Pisa is pretty far away...

From the Pisa train station the easist thing to do is take the Red LAM bus. As you exit the station look to the right/across the street. The LAM buses are well marked and color coded.

There are about 10 intermediate stops between the stazione and Torre (tower) and total travel time is about 10min. QED.

Buy a bus ticket at the newsstand inside the train station for 0,85 Euro. (buy 2 so you have one for the return trip).

It's a long walk but it's doable. We took approximately a half an hour at a leisurely pace.

Or get off the train at Pisa S. Rossore station instead of Centrale. It's a block or two from there.

Just an FYI - consider visiting lucca, north of pisa. My husband and I visited there on our last day on our way to pisa to fly out. Adorable town that seems to get overlooked. We rented a tandem bike and rode a wall that runs around the old city. It's quaint and really low key.

Most trains from Florence to NOT stop at the Rossore station - only the Pisa Centrale. Some do, but it's a minority.

Actually, many trains do stop at Pisa S. Rossore. It is one stop past Centrale where most people get off the train. Enter Pisa S. Rossore instead of just Pisa when looking for trains on Trenitalia. There are other trains that involve changing in Lucca if you are planning to stop there first.
