Sicily: Volcano
Has anyone ever visited the Lipari Islands, specifically the island of Volcano? We're considering a visit, but we don't know whether it would be a day-trip or more.

Hi E,
We have just come from Lipari which was a lovely stop on our honeymoon. Lipari is a main island of the Eolian archipelago. It is beautiful and somewhat more lively then the other islands. Vulcano is right next to it and has the mud baths and the black sand beach to recommend itself. Watch out for the mud bath--we couldnt get the smell of sulphur out of our clothes and hair for days. But its all worth it.

I would do Vulcano as a day trip from Lipari. It's ten minutes away by hydrofoil, and they run all day into the early evening.

Thanks for the response. Do you think that Volcano is worth a day trip from Sicily if we don't go to Lipari?

why not go to both? They are 10 minutes apart by boat. I think all the islands are worth a trip. But if you are short on time, try to do Vulcano, Lipari and Stromboli.
