Thanks for this very detailed report.
Sicily is high on my list of want to sees. Too much Montalbano I fear! But this report has only fed my desire to go.

Another thanks for the very detailed report. Silicy definitely sounds like a place we would enjoy! We've been to Naples twice and thoroughly enjoyed both visits. We want to return to Rome and combining that with Silicy might be the way to go! Hope you're feeling better!! Being sick on vacation is definitely not any fun!

Thank you so much for your detailed report full of so much useful information. My husband and I will be in Sicily later in September and your report has been so useful.

Brava! Sorry illness intruded but a great TR.

Great TR! Not sure how I missed it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. You all did well despite being sick.

Hi! We're in Sicily now and was rereading your TR to refresh my notes. I had to laugh about your getting lost and taking longer to get places. We have never had so much trouble driving in anyplace EVER. It's become a joke. your comments on Villa Romana stayed with me. we drove by it twice to and from Marzamemi. Each time a tour bus with school kids was being dropped of so we passed remembering your comments.

Yes travel

You need to go back and see Villa Romana! Incredible. It was the biggest highlight of my trip.

Oh well, another trip will obviously be needed. we're on our way to ENNA now.

yestravel May 5th, 2015 10:25 AM

Oops, confusion on my part. We did see Villa Romana del Casale near piazza Armenia and I agree it's wonderful. We had seen it on a previous trip to Sicily and enjoyed it just as much. I was referring to other mosaics with a similar name south of Noto.

Just reading this and loving the report! For people who were clearly not well, you managed to do and see an amazing amount!

Thinking about a trip for next spring, so this is very helpful for understanding how to,plan. I appreciate all the details you've included.

Thanks so much, Alison!! My husband and I are going to Sicily in April/May for 3 weeks and your trip report is immensely helpful. I still need to do considerable research, but this is great for starters!! Also have many other trip reports to scour, as you mention. Again, Thanks!!!

Great report! I'm in the midst of planning for September, 2022 so a few years removed from your report. However, it sounds like your travel style (except for being ill) matches ours. I may need to tweak the first stab at an itinerary based on now wanting to stay at Pensione Tranchina. : )
