Sicily Hotels

Anyone know of a cheap ($80-$100) hotel or B+B in Agrigento and Toaormina. It can be in the vicinity.

Even though it's been a couple of years,at the time we paid 99 euros for Hotel Victoria right on the Corso in Taoromina.Great location, good place to stay.

Good budget choices:

Agrigento: Villa Amico

Taormina: Pensione Svizzera (spelling?)

Check on tripadvisor.com for more information.

Not sure about exact prices.

Be careful of cheap accommodations in Agrigento - that was one city where the budget rooms I saw really turned me off. Unless some new places have opened in the last few years you may be better off staying on the outskirts of Agrigento.

I stayed at Villa Amico (Agrigento) myself and found it to be clean and safe.

Thanx Bettyo
I was already considering Villa Amico and booked it yesterday. It has great reviews on TripAdvisor. I got it for 60e i think.

Now i need one for Taormina. Any sugg?

A little out of your price range, but I also recommend Pensione Svizzera in Taormina. http://www.pensionesvizzera.com/english/

I really never come across hotels there less than this in my readings of posts or when I was perusing guidebooks. There is one place I had considered, that was really cheap, but there were no reviews to be found on the net so I passed.

I'm going to Sicily in July so I have not yet stayed at these hotels, but I just booked the Villa Greta in Taormina for 85€. It got good reviews on TripAdvisor, answered their e-mails promptly, etc. so I'm hoping for the best. I booked the Vila Amico for Agrigento based on betty's review (and others).

Kimberlina,

We splurged a little more when we were in Taormina, so I can't give a first-hand account of Svizzera -- but I had heard from others that Pensione Svizzera was one of the best budget options for Taormina. Small rooms, but it's suppose to be well-located, clean and charming.

I am not familiar with Villa Greta, but perhaps it is also good.

Thankyou sll- i am going to look into Svizzera and Greta.
I just discovered Hotel Villa Mora in Giardini Naxos for about $92usd on Italyby.com (may be cheaper on other website but i haven't gotten that far yet.) It also has good reviews and i don't mind driving a coupla miles to save some bucks.

kimberlina01 Apr 29th, 2005 06:40 AM

isabel-
what web did you go thru for Villa Greta?

isabel Apr 29th, 2005 09:39 AM

I found it on several sites such as venere.com and emmeti.com and tripadvisor.com. But I emailed them directly to make the reservation. Their site is: http://www.villagreta.it/uk/index.php

Their email is [email protected].

If you google the name you'll find several places where it is mentioned.

We are visiting Taormina in October and I found this great site that gives you links to loads of hotels, B&Bs etc.
www.gate2taormina.com
I have booked the Hotel Villa Gaia which looks fine, central and not too expensive.

(The website above seems to be down at the moment but try a bit later as I found it very helpful)
