Sicily guide and/or tour recommendation for a day trip
hi:
i'm looking for a recommendation for a guide or a tour for a day spent in sicily. there will be four of us arriving for a day trip from malta. i'm just starting to do research and at this point, don't even know which airport to fly into. any advice on: 1) a couple must-see sights or activities; 2) which airport they would be nearest to; and 3) a tour or a guide that can assist us. THANKS MUCH! |
Your other thread gave suggestions for tours/guides. I guess you didn't like those ideas.

actually adrienne, i am considering a flight vs a boat ride, and only the tour recommendation came along with the ferry.

Do you have a realistic choice of airports? The only direct flights I could find were to Catania (There were flights to Trapani on Ryanair, but few, far between and at silly times)
You can do a daytrip on Air Malata leaving around 8 in the morning and arriving back just after midnight. From Catania, you would have several options: Taormina (Touristy, Expensive, stunningly beautiful), Siracusa or possibly the Roman Mosaics at Piazza Armarina. With transport, Noto, Ragusa or Modica (or combinations of each) would be possible. I cannot help with names of guides etc. |
From your other thread this company offers "shore excursions, day trips and private tours"
http://www.sicilytourguides.net/ I recommended searching for the "private guides in Italy" thread with its recommendation for this organization which states on its site: "Each tour is organized carefully and exclusively for you, up to your special requests and your interests." http://www.sicilylife.com/ So that's two organizations that were recommended which appear to accommodate pick ups at airports and guided tours. Have you contacted these companies? |
