Sicily for 5 nights
 

My wife and I are staying in Palermo for 5 nights in mid July and renting a car at the airport. I'd like to get some suggested driving itineraries for five days from Palermo. Thanks.

Not actually answering your question, I'm afraid, but... have you already seen Palermo ? We found that we were fully occupied for a week just exploring the city, and never even made it out as far as Monreale. I loved Palermo and would love to go back.

Driving in the city is quite hard work.

If you stay in Palermo, you'll be dong an awful lot of backtracking, but day trips are possible to:

1. Agrigento
2. Segesta & Selinunte
3. Cefalu
4. Erice

Why stay in Palermo if you plan to drive and day trip. We just spent 4 days in Palermo and it takes that to see it.

5. Taormina (aobut 2.5 hrs drive)

But I agree with the other posters. Why stay in Palermo and not visit it?

Monreale (just outside Palermo) has a splendid cathedral with wonderful mosaics.
