Sicilian Wineries

Has anyone visited wineries in Sicily? Any
recomendations? Thanks for any help.

I haven't visited it, but I think one of the largest and probably best organized of the wineries in Sicily is Regaleali.

They offer winery tours and cooking classes, and I think they also have lodgings:

I live here now and have heard fairly good things about Gambino Winery. www.agricolagambino.it. It's near Catania. We're going next week. I'll post an update.

There must be some in or near Marsala, I guess.

In which area will you be staying? There are MANY wineries in Sicily (some better than other depending on your taste!) If we knew where you would be that would narrow it down (Gambino is one of my favs by teh way but Donna Fugata rocks too to name only two!)

I'm hoping to get to Donna Fugata this weekend. We're going to spend the weekend in Marsala... So if anyone has recommendations for wineries near Marsala I would appreciate it! Thanks.

Thanks! Sounds like you've been here a while. May need to pick your brain on other Sicilian attractions. Merry Christmas.

Are all of those in Marsala? I wonder whether there are any worth visiting in the Aeolian islands, where I think Malvasia is made.

Yes. Those were all in Marsala. We just got back, but didn't make it to any wineries as they were all closed for the New Year holiday. Did have lots of great Marsala wine with our meals. Our hotel also put out Rubino Fine from Peligrino (sp) in our room every afternoon and it was delicious. We stayed at the Hotel New Palace. The food was amazing and it is only a block from Florio and others...
