Shuttle/Limo or Metro from ROMA airport to Zone Hotel

Hello!

DH and I are staying at the Zone hotel (Via Alfredo Fusco 118) this coming February, we found a shuttle service from Airport to hotel for 32€ for 2 people or a limo for 45€.

Hotel directions say to take the Express to Termini station and then take the subway line A and get of at Aurelia, then the train FM3 and get off at Balduina.

We will have just come off the long flight from the East Coast with our two small bags and a carryon each.

How hard is it to navigate the Rome metro? I have used metros is many places without trouble, but only the one in Mexico City where I didnt know the language.

I dont mind spending the 50 dollars for the ease of the limo service, but if the metro is quite easy and cheap, thats more I can spend on wine....uuumn I mean museums.

Any information will be helpful.

Thank You
Wendy

My suggestion would be to take the shuttle. The express to Termini will cost 19 Euro for two people, the Metro 2 Euro for two people. So your saving would amount to 11 Euro; hardly worth the hassle, in my opinion.

But I would also double-check the shuttle and limo prices; most rates on Web sites are for Fiumicino to the center of town, and Balduina hardly counts as center.

Is there any reason why you are staying so far from the center of Rome?

Thank you for the information...the hotel came with the package..I am trying to get it changed, but I think they are going to try and charge me 100 dollars per person service charge to change it, plus whatever the upgraded hotel price is.

Reviews I read were hardly flattering due to taking 40-90 minutes to get to any sites.

Wendy, even at $100. per change plus possible surcharge per person, I would bite the bullet and change to a hotel in the center. It will give you so much more time in central Rome (where one of the most pleasant things is just to stroll around and sit in a cafe or two) and so many more restaurant opportunities.

Do post a question here about the hotels in the center that you are considering; there are many people here who know Rome well.

My daughter and I stayed at the Zone Hotel in June and we liked it very much. It is very modern and immaculately clean. You will spend less than $200 on taxis if you stay there, and the hotel has a free shuttle into the city from early in the morning to about 7:30 PM.

Just back from Rome this summer.Spring for the 32e and take a shuttle its just to big a hassle after a long trip, customs etc. You need to be on your toes for the metro. Think about this. Dragging your bag from bag pick up down one escalator across a walkway then up two escalators, getting ticket getting into crowded train which comes in about 1/2 mile from where you are going to get metro.need I say more.
