Shuttle from CDG to Paris
 

Yes, I know this has probably been asked a zillion times before, but I couldn't find any current (within the last few years) posts, and you never know when things change. So here goes...normally I'm traveling with my husband so we take a taxi into the city when we arrive, but this time I'm going by myself, so it's too expensive for one person. I'll also have too much luggage ( I don't travel light and I'm staying a month) to take the train or the Roissybus (even though I'm staying not all that far from the Opera, it will still be too much stuff to drag for blocks). So, I guess I need a shuttle, hence the topic title. My friend uses Super Shuttle and hasn't had any problems other than they're not being there waiting for her, but we had used another shuttle co. years ago and the same thing happened, so I'm thinking that's not unusual for the shuttles. Has anybody here used Super Shuttle, or should I be looking at other companies (I have no idea which one we used, it was so long ago) that might be better? I hate the shuttle, hate being driven around the city if you're the last one to be dropped off, but don't think I have a choice unless I want to spend the big bucks for a cab. Help, please.

A taxi will cost around 50€, generally a lot less than private shuttles and not a great deal more than shared ride shuttles. Shuttle services in Paris, on the whole, have a very poor service record.

The Roissybus to Opera is only 10€ and you can put all of your luggage on the bus.

It's really your choice to carry all that baggage, so I think if it were me, I'd just pay for a taxi. You do realize that it won't cost you that much more than a group shuttle van for one person. well, I guess that's a value judgment but it seems that if I had to carry tons of luggage to Paris, but hated being driven around (I actually don't care much about that, what's the big deal, upon arrival you are kind of jet-lagged anyway and hotel rooms are often not ready early in the morning)-- I'd pay for a taxi. I do anyway, but that's because that extra 25 euro is so so worth it to me upon arrival. I value my time and energy on vacation, so I'd much rather pay for that than things other people blow money on, like expensive meals or shopping, but that's just me.

I think it may cost around 25 euro for a single in those group vans, not sure, but that was my estimate for the difference. I've never used one but know some people like shuttle Inter, you can google it. I have never heard of Super Shuttle in Paris, I thought that was US, but I don't think it's a real common one in Paris, in any case.

It's hit or miss with shuttles. The same shuttle can be good one time but not other times. If your plane is late they show up at the scheduled time and won't wait. I have no idea why they don't look at the arrival time but they don't.

On the return have them pick you up 4 hours before your departure time to ensure you get to the airport on time.

There are lots of shuttle companies to choose from - Leader, Gray, Bee, Paris, etc.

We used Shuttle Inter in May........it was a private shuttle, 55 euro for one way. I had read all the reviews and comments and decided that if the shuttle didn't show up, our back up was to just take a taxi.
The shuttle was there waiting for us, even though our flight had been delayed by almost 2 hours. It was really nice to see my name on a sign being held by the driver when I came into the pickup area at CDG.
The driver was extremely courteous, he also waited for us to us the ATM. Handled our luggage and the car was clean and comfortable.

forgot to mention that Shuttle Inter is one of those, that does NOT require prepayment at the time of your reservation. You pay the driver.

For one person, the private car (Shuttle Inter) doesn't pay...I might as well take a taxi and hope for not too much traffic. My reasoning for the shuttle is that it could easily be a 25 euro difference between a taxi and the shuttle, and while I know I can take the Roissy bus and get the bags onto the bus without a problem, I then have to walk blocks to my apartment...so not a good idea. Super Shuttle is definitely in Paris...that was my reaction when my friend told me she uses them, but she's used them for years. My problem with them is the same as the rest of the shuttles...they're often not there when you come out, so you have to call and wait for them, and now she just told me that they moved their location and it's a bit trickier to find them now. Just what I don't want when I arrive after a long flight. I was just wondering if there was one shuttle company that seemed to have a better record than the others...aargh!! For the return trip it's definitely going to be a taxi..my husband will be there by then, but even if he weren't, I'd never take a shuttle to the airport..that would make me way too nervous, time-wise.

What has duration of visit have to do with the amount of luggage?

Alan, I don't understand your question? If you go for a weekend, you need a lot less stuff than if you go for a month? What part of that didn't you get? And my question isn't how to lessen my load, it's about the shuttle into Paris. And I have to say, I'm not any more informed than I was when I started.

Now I'm sorry I took the time to give you my personal experience. I would have thought that you were informed after reading the posts. And there are plenty of other recent posts on Paris shuttles - why don't you find them and read the same information that is in this post.

Going to Paris in May. Has anyone used Viator from CDG to Paris, recently? They seem to be the most reasonably priced, but price is not my only concern. I have read some negative comments on Suttle Inter, but I realize that anyone could have one bad experience with any service. Any help is appreciated.

We took Super Shuttle from CDG to Pompidou Center area 3 weeks ago and I highly recommend them.
It only cost 43 Euro for 2 people, and it was a nice, clean well maintained minivan, with only 1 other passenger. There was a girl with a sign at the airport to meet us and she took us to meet the driver. He was an excellent driver, and called the apartment manager for us, when my phone did not work. I was very pleased with the experience.
We had booked online and prepaid, so we saved our Euros for a tip.

This thread is a little old at the beginning but good info now I guess. But a taxi for the two would have been close to the same amount. Just an FYI. And no "wonder" if they are going to show up or any phone calling.

A taxi could have easily been 50 euro or even a bit more, depending on destination and traffic. So I think this is a good review of Super Shuttle for those who search, as I've never heard of that company, and I think 43 euro for a couple is a good rate, I know some charge around 60. I don't know if I would be crazy about prepaying those shuttles, myself, though. If you could just reserve and pay upon arrival, and bail if they didn't show up, that would be great.

Another inexpensive option for readers with similar issues, is taking the Roissy Bus to the dropoff @Opera then a short taxi ride to your hotel

This is the well known (in the US) blue van shared ride shuttle which now operates in Paris. (It is a franchise scheme) Super Shuttle is a shared ride service, so the downside is that one never knows how many other stops will be reburied before reaching one's destination. The vans hold up to 8 passengers.
