Shuttle from CDG
I need to take a shuttle from the airport to my hotel and back. Does anyone have any recommendations or experience to help me decide which to use?

There are quite a few recommendations in previous posts--try using the search engine to pull them up.

Any information on Airport Connection shuttle service?

DO NOT use "voyages A Paris"! When we were leaving CDG, we had to wait two hours for them to show up at the desk. Going back to CDG is another story. We had to call 48 hours prior to our flight. We called 72 hours, because we were going to be in Normandy at 48 hours. They "never heard of us". We called from Normandy (Monday), they "never heard of us". We called on Tuesday (the day before our flight) they "never heard of us", I told them that we have a voucher from Go-Today. I faxed it to her, and was faxed back saying, "you're all set, we'll pick you up at 10AM." At 10:30, when they weren't there, we called, and they said "we've never heard of you"!!! So we had to take a taxi last minute to CDG. At the airport, we talked to other people who also had problems with them. My goal is that nobody ever uses this company again.

I'm not referring to Voyages a Paris shuttle service, but there is no hassle really to just take a taxi.
|
Which is cheaper to get the hotel - Taxi or Shuttle?
|
We just returned from Paris last week. used ParisShuttle. they were on time, polite and reasonable (73Euros for 4 people from CDG to St. Germaine de Pres)I would definitely use them next trip!

Just returned from Paris last week. We took an Airport Connection shuttle from the airport and returned to CDG by cab. (The shuttle service had confused the reservation and was not able to provide the confirmed return service. That's another story!) Cost for taxi for 3 people and bags was identical to the shuttle fare quoted. Given the hassle we experienced with shuttle service on 2 separate trips to Paris--long waits at airport and confused reservations both times--next time we'll take a taxi.
|
We paid a lot less than 75 Euros and we (a family of four) just hailed a cab.
Sometimes these limo service are a lot more expensive than calling a taxi - Beware of all your options. |
..70 euros is about right from central paris to cdg..so if in a group is reasonable..beware..I have been stuck in traffic jams on rainy days in am rush hour (fortunately was being pickup up by friend) but would have hated to be sitting witth a meter running! if on your own think of the air france shuttle bus or rer.
|
..whoops should read 50 euros!!
|
Yep...an accident, et voila!...the meter runs and you're stuck there. My first trip from CDG to the City - 90E's...
I LIKE the Roissy or AirFrance bus into the City...then a cab and then reverse it for the return That way poor 'lil waif-like oh-so-delicate me doesn't have to schlep her bag around... |
We have NEVER paid 70€ for a cab. It is more like 45-50--and they will take 4 people. If the poster is alone then a shuttle is economical and offers door to door service. If there are 2 people it comes close to being a wash for taking a taxi.
|
In our opinion, take the AirFrance Bus to its depot in downtown (choose the one closest to your destin) and then calla cab...the AF Shuttle is both cheap and fast.
If flying to Orly, just take a cab.Much closer, and faster:) |
I've used Yellow Van shuttle a few times and they seem to be reasonably ok
http://www.yellowvanshuttle.com/EN/index.php I agree that if there are several of you the taxi fare does not work out much different and the convenience is there. However, the shuttle buses have fixed fares so at the times of day where the roads around Paris are snarled up, you have an advantage in getting the shuttle bus rather than the taxi. Disadvantage is that if you're arriving late at night I think they're last bookings are for fairly early in the evening. |
