Shuttle from Airport to Paris
 

I read somewhere about Shuttle Bee and I contacted them to pick me up at the Airport and take me to Paris. They are charging me 45 Euros for one way. 10% off for the return.
My question is: Is 45 Euros too expensive? Please let me know and if someone knows about another way to get me from the airport to Paris I would really appreciate it!

I imagine you mean CDG airport and not Orly?

In this case, the most inexpensive way is to take the RER city train. There are several trains an hour taking about half an hour in total. You can go from CDG Terminal 2 or Terminal 3/Roissypole right to the centre of Paris this way.

It's the RER B line you'll need (the blue line) and to go toward Paris you need to get it in the direction of Antony, Robinson or St-Rémy-lès-Chevreuse.

Just ask for a 'Billet Ile-de-France' ticket which covers zone 5 (Aéroport CDG) through to zone 1 (Paris) which should cost €9.50. Not sure if there are discounts on returns but as you can see, far cheaper than €45.

IMO public transport is very easy to navigate in Paris, so this is the best way to do it. The RER B line stops at Gare du Nord, Châtelet Les Halles a “super” interchange station connecting to 4 metro lines and 3 RER lines and then onto Saint Michel/Nôtre Dame, Luxembourg, Port Royal, Denfert-Rochereau, Cité Universitaire, and finally Orly Airport.

45 Euro is about the same price all shutttles charge I am not familar with this specific company. Is this a shared ride or your private car. I have used A shared ride and a private nd I much prefer a private especially on the return The other people kept us waiting!!A taxi runs about 55E but the meter keps running if there is a tieup. RER ic sure cheaper but with luggage to deal with when tired i'd rather sprend the extra and let some one else handle it!!

@ Loco2com: thank you very much, I have been taking the sub in NYC and very familiar with the area. I am still worried about jet-lag and having my head on my shoulders when I get there, but thanks for the info. Once I get used to, I guess in my next trip I will take the train...
@ Avalon: I think I read that taxi can be expensive, so I guess 45 euros is kinda ok, seen that is 55 Euros for a taxi!!! I will just for this time keep my reservation!

I have never heard of a shuttle charging that much on this board, http://www.paris-airport-shuttle.com...huttle.htmland there have been countless reports. We always take a taxi because for two people, the shuttle costs about the same as a cab.
Here is one site--a lot less than your 45.

Er...first of all, if you're anything like me, you'll be to excited to be experiencing jet lag as soon as you land (oh it will hit...but fight it and go to bed at a reasonable time anyway). Adrenalin is a wonderful thing.
I use the AirFrance bus to the Galleries Lafayette stop, then a cab. That cost me maybe 15 E's total. Otherwise, for 45E's, I'd just figure on 5 E's more and take a cab.
Shuttles bother me, my luck, I'd be the last one off the bus...and Everyone else's places will look better.

If you paid 45€ for a shared ride shuttle, that´s roughly double the going rate. If you paid 45€ for a private shuttle, that´s about 5€ to 10€ less than what you might typically pay for one person.

The last taxi I took from CDG into central Paris cost me 45€ for three people and luggage which is far less than what any shuttle charges for 3 passengers. You may see that many people suggest, I include myself, that a taxi will cost 50€ to 55€ because of the possibilities of traffic, fares are rarely higher.

I choose taxis not because they usually cost less, but because they are much more reliable and most of the taxi drivers (around 80%) are independent businessmen, associated only by common dispatcher. However, no one should accept an offer from clandestine drivers soliciting from within the terminals. Only take taxis from the taxi stands or queues.

My suttle...suttle BEE never showed up, but they didnt charge my credit card either, phew! I took a taxi and it cost me 48 euros, which I though was very good!

Another classic example of why people should simply take a taxi, from the taxi stand, and avoid all of the unknowns with shuttles. 48€ is really all it usually costs from CDG into central Paris and taxis are always there when you need them.

My advice is to take a cab! I was only posting that shuttle as an example you were being overcharged.

well, not showing up is not very good, but if that was the fare for a private car, it really was a good rate. I think a lot of them charge around 60 euro if it is private. And while a taxi often does cost that same amount (45-50 euro), it is true that if it is a flat fare, you don't have to worry about some possible traffic problem that could change it. So pros and cons, I wouldn't object to a 48 euro flat fare IF it were a reliable company that showed up. On the other hand, if you don't have to prepay, I guess you just waste a little time waiting for them before going to get a taxi.
