Shroud of Turin 2017
I plan on being in Turin during September 2017. All I have been able to find on the web is info dating back to 2015. Does anyone have current information if viewing the actual Shroud during 2017? Do you need to reserve a time, etc?
Thanks

There is no sctual Shroud related to Christ but a centuries-after-the fact fake - well maybe you want to see just for its historical aspect. The latest debunking aalysis was done at Oxford or Cambridge from analyzing a tiny fragment given to them by the Church and produced definite proof the cloth made centuries after Christ died.
But to see the hoax that fooled so many for so long: http://www.shroud.com/
maybe the official site will tell about visiting? I could not find any info on it though.

Except on unusual occasions, the Shroud cannot be seen. The last time it was brought out was in 2015, and there are not any expositions planned for this year. Sometimes as many as ten years pass between expositions.
The Church makes no claim for its authenticity. Scientific tests date the cloth to the Medieval period. It's first mentioned in the 14th century, when it was displayed in France. Around that time a French bishop, in a letter to the Pope, denounced it as a fraud. The method of its reproduction on the cloth is a mystery; it's really a negative image rather than a likeness. The church venerates it as it would venerate an icon, which means its authenticity is not essential to its value.

It was displayed in 2010, and the next display was set by Pope John Paul II for 2025 to coincide with a Catholic holy year. Pope Frances authorized an early six-week display in 2015. We had the opportunity to see it then, it was a phenominal experience.
There is a museum dedicated to the Shroud, but it doesn't have the actual Shroud. There is also a traveling replica, but the Shroud never leaves its climate-controlled case in the church.
