yes, it is a lesson worth repeating xyz.... I hadn't read it here before. I think it is incredible the city allows them to post so fraudulently! The one I went to has a sign that says "the only official half-price ticket booth"; it's crazy. I can understand if they only claimed to be a half-price ticket booth but to be allowed to state they are the only official one is pure fraud.

The only official booth, is just that; a booth.

The official half price place is to the far left if you enter leicester square from the tube. It looks like a public bog. It's a stand alone alone oval thing.

BTW it's not always a bargain - try the theatre first.

All the others are touts, 'Scalpers' I think the seppos call 'em.

Oliver! and Les Miserables are said to be really good! My Voice/Singing Teacher just came back an d said they were both wonderful!

Thank you all for your all help and particularly the clarification of where to visit in Leicester Sq. London touts are the most entertaining I have come across - Sydney was full of them and their unique humour during the Olympic Games.
It seems to me that if the show is very popular the best place is the ticket office at the theatre, unless you want to play for time or waste time. We will probably go with the very popular. Thanks again.

Without seeking to offend either side of the Atlantic, should we see Jersey Boys in New York or London ? As Australians visiting both London and New York in July we are interested in your views.

I loved the London production but don't know the NY one. If cost is a factor, I was able to see the London show for only 20 pounds which is about 30$. You can compare how available the best seats are. I had the cheapest seats in high altitude.

We loved 39 Steps at the Criterion. Breezed up 10 min before showtime, and the box office upgraded us to nice seats. I'd think anyone would enjoy this show.

Any comments for War Horse?

I didn't see it but Neopatrick on his thread called 11 plays in 7 days commented that he enjoyed it very much.

<<Billy Elliott is another smashing musical. It started a bit slowly, for me.... could have been the pint of beer I had in a local pub before the show. The Irish accents are very thick and I wished they had stage text like they did at Oliver!

ncounty, I really wanted to see Oliver! when we were there in March, but we ended up at We Will Rock You instead. Blat. Hugely enjoyed Jersey Boys and The 39 Steps, though.

Next time we go back to London, I'll have to see 39 steps and you should see Oliver! :)
