Showers at Heathrow

Have noticed showers available at a bathroom somewhere, passing thru Heathrow. Would appreciate comments on anyone who has tried this after an overnight transatlantic flight. Arrive Terminal 4, leave Terminal 2, three hour layover. Good idea or not?

..a shower between flights is heavenly(and a bubblebath would be heaven)..would suggest (assuming you are on time) having the shower (if available) in the terminal from which you depart...if any glitches in transfer between terminals, you will just skip the shower as opposed to miss the plane.

..whoops..i know there is a shower in term 4, but i dont think 2...i think heathrow has a sight..if you have a ff card which allows you go to a lounge (or if your ticket is premium), the lounge will likely have a shower..but you can check that with the carrier.

There are showers at the BA arrivals lounge in T4, for which you need to be in premium class BA or on one of the stratospheric levels of their Exec Club.

There are some public showers on the T4 arrivals level, though I THINK they're on the route you'd be taking if you were heading for Immigration (which you'd only want to do if your bags hadn't been through-checked).

If they have been checked, take the inter-terminal bus to the Flight connections centre (FCC) without going through immigration. The FCC is in the same building as T 1 + 2, and there are public showers in the FCC.

You can't get to the FCC if you go out through immigration at T4, take the train to T2 and then go through security at T2. And there are, as far as I'm aware, no other public showers at T2. The airline lounges at T2 that I've used don't have showers.

If using the FCC, be aware that security queues can be long (EVERY depasrting passenger at LHR goes through security, wherever they've arrived from), though of course you won't have to faff with Immigration.

Thanks all for your kind replies. I'll check the airport map. Maybe it was in Terminal 4 that I noticed them last time when heading home, not arriving. Don't worry I won't miss my connecting flight because I'm messin' around in the bathrooms (although that would make a funny story to post later on) ~LOL.

Well it worked, here's what I did...

In Terminal 1, which you pretty much must pass by heading to a Terminal 2 connection there are showers for rent. It is 2 pounds for the room only or 3 pounds w/ soap packets & a towel included. What you get is a private tiled bathroom with a toilet, shower, sink, mirror, hair dryer and bench.

Highly recommended as a way to spend a few minutes on a layover especially on a hot London day and after a long transatlantic flight before continuing on!
