Should we purchase Carrieres de Lumieres tickets in advance?

We are planning to visit Carrieres de Lumieres in Les Baux de Provence on October 3. We are trying to avoid purchasing advance tickets, as they are timed and we would prefer not to have to commit to a specific time. In your experience, do you think we are "off season" enough to show up and get tickets on that day, or do you suggest we advance purchase the timed tickets?

Thanks.

On a weekday in October, I see absolutely no reason to purchase a ticket in advance. It is mostly crowded during the summer and on the weekend.

Even in early summer, I saw a ticket counter queue consisting of only a few people at the Carrieres de Lumieres. I got a combo ticket at the Les Baux Castle ticket office which also had no ticket counter queue.

Mid-May of this past year, the line went out the door and all the way to the street. I was glad I had a ticket.

We were there a couple years ago in October, and there were no lines.

Kja, are you talking about the Atelier des Lumières or the Carrières des Lumières? The line at the Carrières des Lumières would never reach the road.

I was at the Carrières des Lumières, and although there was no door enclosing the ticket counters (my mistake), there definitely was a line all the way from the ticket counters to the street. Maybe a tour group or two had just arrived? All I know is how very happy I was to walk right by them.

Thanks all. We've decided to take our chances and go without advance purchase.
