Should we have a "home base" or travel?
We are spending 8 nights in Ireland in September. Is it a good idea just to pick a home base and do day trips. Was thinking of staying in Adare and traveling only to the south and southwest. Furthest away is Waterford. I'm not a fan of traveling by car and checking in/out of different locations. We are flying in/out of Shannon.

For 8 nights, I'd pick 2 or 3 locations. Maybe just 2 if you don't like checking in and out. Sometimes day trips can take up a lot of your time just riding in the car. Look for some nice B&Bs.
When we were in Ireland for 10 days, we usually stayed 2-3 nights per B&B, and we got around quite a bit. Alice |
thanks. are there any "must do's" we should do in those areas? i know the major ones.. but any out of the way or non touristy??

Is this the Adare Manor Villa package you are considering? Adare is not a bad base but there are better. Why Waterford? if just for the Crystal there are a couple of other options.
You need to consider Touring Hubs if you are going to have 2 (or 3) bases and don't get stuck somewhere you drive the same piece of road 3 hours on every round trip. What do you consider South and South west because that just covers the line from Tralee to Wicklow. |
thinking about adare because we found a cute little house to rent there. and yes waterford for the crystal only. my traveling partner inistig on that. Other than that, kilkenny, cork, kerry, clark & limerick.
