Should we avoid Madrid on Día de la Hispanidad?

My wife and I are planning a trip to Spain in mid-October. Our rough itinerary puts us in Madrid from Saturday, 10/10 through Monday, 10/12. We just realized that the 12th is Dia de la Hispanidad and are wondering if we should reconsider our plan--we realize that certain attractions usually close on either Sundays or Mondays but we'd hate to spend two of our three days in the city trying to find something that is open. Can anyone tell me what is typically open on the holiday as far as shops/restaurants/attractions?
Thanks so much!

As it is a national holiday almost all shops will be closed. Most Restaurants will be open though. The most important museums close on Mondays , and 10/12 is a Monday. The good thing is that a lot of Madrid people (including me!!) will be out for a long weekend. So it will be a good day to walk the old Madrid area or the Retiro park in the center of Madrid.

I will be in Sevilla that same day..Would there be any festivites?

Also is it the same day as the celebration for Vigen del Pilar? If so what takes place?

Trandolf sorry to hijack.

I think Trandolf wanted to know if the holiday would compromise his enojoyment of the Madrid that day given his limited time there?

Yes I have surfed the web & you tube. I think the day should have something different I am just not sure what.
In the north it seems they are more into Virgen del Pilar on that same day.
