Frankfurt Airport - train station

I have never had to take a train from the Airport in Frankfurt. A friend tells me that the train station is automated and you buy tickets from vending machines and you need the correct amount of money to do this. This seems very odd to me. Are there not tellers to buy the tickets from?

At least in June 2005 there were also tellers to sell tickets. I think that in any big train station there are vending machines, and also ticket offices.
There are small cities or villages where there are only vending machine, but this can not be the situation at Frankfurt - airport, where there are a lot of foreing people from all over the world, with or without local money

Thanks. I thought it strange that it would be completely automated.

In the regional train station, the were only machines this February, BUT there also was a Bahn employee who helped people that needed assistance.

I used my EC card, I think a credit card would work too.

There is a regular station where you can purchase your tickets and ask questions. I wish I could tell you exactly where it is located. I always go there to buy my train tickets with a face-to-face transaction and someone to answer any questions I might have. I just follow the signs to the bahn.
