SHOULD I CHANGE DUBLIN HOTEL?
Hi - I'm taking a tour that ends in Dublin staying at Camden Court Hotel. I plan to stay another two nights cuz tour only there one night and I figure I should see a bit more. Camden Ct would cost about USD225 for the additional two nights, which is ok (of course, less would be better), but mostly I'm wondering if it'd be worth my while to change to a hotel closer to Dublin city center. I'm age 73 female traveling alone and would rather walk to sites than have to find taxis. Then, too, I'll need to get to airport. Also, while not skittish, I do want to be safe. Sure will appreciate your help. Thx/e

I've just had a word with the wife (who is a Dubliner) and she says in her opinion its not worth changing hotels as Camden Court Hotel is really quite central - very near Grafton St., St. Stephens Green etc. I'm sure the Hotel will help you sort out travel to the Airport or you could get a bus to the city centre from Camden St. and pick up the Airport Bus in town. I'm sure the Hotel will advise. Hope that helps.

It's a close call, and really depends on what you are like.
The hotel is just outside the central area, a walk of half a mile or more to places that might interest a typical visitor. The immediate area is not dodgy, but not especially attractive. If you are the sort who might like to return to your room for a little down-time during the day, the location would be a bit of a negative. To get to the airport, you might use a taxi. The alternative is to use a service bus to take you into the city centre, and transfer to one of the airport bus services. That would be bothersome if you have much baggage. The price seems fairly good for single occupancy in a hotel of that quality. |
THANK YOU, Maggot and Padraig! I truly appreciate your input. I feel more comfortable now about remaining at Camden Court. A half-mile walk is fine - might lose a pound or two ;>) - and I'll have only one roller suitcase. So, I'm all set! Now just have to wait 'til August. Again, thank you/e
