Should I buy the London Pass?
 

Hello - Can anyone tell me if the London Pass is worth the $170? I'll be in London for 7 days and plan to to a bit of sight seeing. I think it covers busses and the tube. Any info would be a help.

This has been discussed MANY times on Fodors. If you do a search you will find out all the particulars. But in gebneral the London Pass is not a great deal. Especially the transport option. A weekly zone 1 transport pass good for buses and the tube is only about $22 when bought in London. <BR><BR>And many places covered by the Pass are not the top sites - mostly commercial properties such as the London Dungeon which is dreadful. Most Museums and Galleries in London are free and the Pass only covers some special exhibitions. In a week you are not likely to get more than a few $ worth of value from the Pass.

I believe that for most siteseeing it is a good deal, although I would wait until I arrived in London to purchase.<BR>The travel aspect is no bargain nor shipping charge. The pass includes all the major places, Windsor Castle, Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, St. Pauls, etc. The only way to be sure is cost it out for yourself by comparing the sites you would like to see and their indiviual cost. The London Pass is a good deal ONLY if it costs out for your itinerary. Since most museums (British Museum, V&A, Natoinal Galelry etc.) are free, most first-timers who are in London for a week or two don't find the Pass to be a good deal. The travel option definitely costs more than the ordinary passes sold at every tube station.
