What about curling irons. I'll use the hotel dryer but i NEED my curling iron. Mine says 110/220 but i don't see any switch or dial to change it? If i use the adapter/convertor should i be fine?

If your curling iron indicates 110/220 it "adjusts" all by itself, and all you need is an adapter plug.

I, too, had a dual voltage dryer with adapter. The first time I used it at a B&B in Ireland, it burned out and blew the whole system in the B&B. It was definitely set at 220......go figure

Budman, Mine was definitely set to 220. I always do that before I leave home just to make sure I don't forget. And like I said I had used it in about 5-6 countries with no problems but at a small hotel I plugged it in and blew out the whole wing of the hotel. Luckily all they did was flip a breaker switch and they were back in business but I was so embarassed. Sparks flew from the hair dryer so I knew it was dead. I might try my luck again and buy another dual voltage to take on future trips but that was scary.
