Shorts in Europe

Is it acceptable to wear shorts in Europe? I have heard conflicting stories.

Mr B Jul 11th, 2001 12:17 AM

Yes. People wear shorts in Europe. Europeans wear shorts in Europe. It's OK to wear shorts in Europe (unless you have varicose veins).

I have a varicose vein, but the shorts would cover it. Is it ok to wear shorts in my situation?

Mr B Jul 11th, 2001 02:30 AM

It'll probably be OK as long as you don't have white, hairless legs. Probably the best thing to do is ask the immigration officials on arrival at your destination whether wearing shorts with a varicose vein like yours is acceptable in that locality.

Mr B - good idea - however I will take you one better - I will poll the passengers on the flight over to Europe. So all you travellers flying over - be prepared to answer!
